How ketamine therapy works

All the other forms of Ketamine are currently used “off label” for mental health disorders, as it is not yet approved for treating any psychiatric conditions. However, many psychiatrists and therapists report its benefits for conditions such as Treatment Resistant Depression, PTSD, suicidal ideation, anxiety disorders, and various types of bipolar and obsessive-compulsive disorders. Research is growing but further is needed to clarify safety profile and establish expected outcomes. Future applications may include various other conditions, such as eating disorders, addictions, personality disorders, psychosis, unresolved bereavement, and disordered coping with life events or chronic medical conditions.
Understanding the Ketamine Therapy Process
During your first visit, we’ll assess your health with a mental health screening and physical exam. A urine test for illicit drugs and proof of valid prescriptions for controlled medications will also be required for safety.
If you are eligible, we’ll schedule your Ketamine sessions. Please arrange a ride home, as you cannot drive for several hours post-treatment. You can bring a support person.
Throughout the treatment, our team will guide you through the process. You’ll relax in a cozy lounge chair for about 45-60 minutes while treatment is administered and monitored by our professionals. Afterward, you’ll have an evaluation session before going home.
In the days following treatment, you may notice an improvement in your mood and symptoms. We offer ongoing support with periodic phone assessments and tips for recovery and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
